This washed Chiroso comes from Nestor Lasso and the team at El Diviso, in Pitalito, Huila, Colombia.

El Diviso is a family farm with a story that has become closely linked to the new wave of Colombian specialty coffee. The farm was originally founded by Nestor’s grandfather, José Uribe, and has grown into a project led by the younger generation of the family, including Nestor and his brother Adrián Lasso. Over time, they have invested in better infrastructure, more controlled processing and a wider range of varieties, with the goal of producing coffees that can reach some of the best roasters and coffee professionals in the world.

What makes El Diviso interesting is not just the quality of the coffees, but the mindset behind them. The farm has become known for experimentation, precision and a very clear sense of direction. Rather than treating processing as a trick, the team uses it as a way to highlight the character of each variety. Their coffees have appeared often in competition settings, and El Diviso has become one of the names people look for when talking about modern Colombian coffee.

Chiroso is also part of that story. Originally associated with Urrao, in Antioquia, Chiroso has become one of Colombia’s most exciting varieties. It is valued for its elegant structure, aromatic complexity and the way it can show a very distinct identity in the cup. In the right hands, it can feel refined and expressive without needing to be pushed too far.

For this lot, the washed process gives the variety space to speak clearly. It is a more transparent expression of El Diviso: clean, structured and precise, with the focus placed on the variety, the farm and the work behind it.

A beautiful coffee from one of Colombia’s most talked-about producers, and a quieter but very elegant side of Nestor Lasso’s work.

Transparency.
