We are delighted to introduce this lot of San Ramon from the distinguished Volcan Azul, a remarkable coffee estate nestled in the Alajuela region of Costa Rica. Guided by the expertise of Don Alejo Castro, the fifth-generation steward of this land, we are privileged to engage with an exceptionally knowledgeable farmer.

The San Ramon coffee variety draws its name from the vibrant city of San Ramon in Costa Rica, situated just 27 miles from the Alajuela province. Known as "The Presidents and Poets' City" due to its rich presidential history, San Ramon is surrounded by coffee plantations that thrive in the region's high altitudes, cultivated without heavy chemical use.

Grown in the shade at elevated altitudes, the San Ramon exhibits a slow maturation process, resulting in cherries with heightened natural sugar levels and complex flavour profiles. Despite their dwarf size and relatively low yield, these coffee plants embody exceptional resilience, standing up to the challenges posed by nature and rewarding coffee enthusiasts with a delightful sensory experience.
